Found in the suburbs of Los Angeles, Bellflower was incorporated in 1957. The city has a population of 76,616 residents. Bellflower gets its name from the Belfleur apple, once a staple of the orchards which grew in the early 1990s. Once a center of Dairy production in California, the city was first settled by dairy farmers of Dutch, Portuguese, and Dutch descent. Later the town's farms were converted into housing developments for the repidly expanding middle class of Los Angeles. Belflower was also home to many different upscale shops during the 50s and 60s, bringing much needed income to the area. This led to what Bellflower is today.
