The name Laguna Niguel come from two origins, Laguna is Spanish for “lagoon”, and Niguel is the name of a Juaneno Indian village. Home to over 62,970 residents as of the 2010 census, Laguna Niguel is divided from San Juan Capistrano by a ridge that runs across Trabuco Creek. Bordered by Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel is located on the former territory granted to Rancho Niguel of Juan Avila. The city has a temperate climate that is pleasant year-round. The highest recorded temperature is 108 degrees, recorded in 1963. The Lowest is 21 degrees.
