Located in west Orange County, Stanton is home to a population of 38,186 as recorded by the 2010 census. Stanton was incorporated in 1956, operating under the Council-Manager style of government, providing in full its own municipal services. Its neighbors include Cypress, Anaheim, and Garden Grove. After the construction of the interurban Railway, the population began to grow, migrants now having access to the area via the rail. Eventually the Railway was taken over by the metropolitan Transportation Agency. In its beginnings, Stanton was a small rural town, contracting all its municipal services elsewhere, but after its incorporation and formation of it police department it began to thrive. Recently in 2013, Stanton's crime rate has decreased a notable 40%.
